9/17/2020 · The Kappa Alpha Order was founded on December 21, 1865 at Washington College, which is now Washington and Lee University. Shortly afterwards, Gamma Chapter was installed at the University of Georgia in 1868, and it is the oldest continually existing.

Kappa Alpha Order – Wikipedia, Home – Greek Life, Home – Greek Life, Kappa Alpha Order ( KA ), commonly known as Kappa Alpha or simply KA , is a social fraternity and a fraternal order founded in 1865 at Washington College in Lexington, Virginia.As of December 2015, the Kappa Alpha Order lists 133 active chapters, five provisional chapters, and 52 suspended chapters. Along with Alpha Tau Omega and Sigma Nu, the order represents a third of the Lexington Triad.

The Sigma Nu Chapter at UGA was founded in 1873 as Chapter number 4 (this was prior to the practice of naming chapters with successive Greek letters). The Chapter was disbanned shortly after getting started due to the anti- fraternity law established by the University stating that any student who joined a Greek letter fraternity would be expelled.

UGA to Recognize Historically Black Fraternities , Sororities At the recommendation of the Presidential Task Force on Race, Ethnicity, and Community, President Jere W. Morehead has approved the installation of campus markers to recognize the nine historically Black fraternities and sororities that are members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council.
